Document Registration Guide, 27th Edition, 2026 by Rose H. McConnell and Raymond H. Mikkola is the most practical and comprehensive guide for completing and preparing real estate documents in Ontario.

An indispensable tool for real estate practitioners, this updated edition provides you with a concise and convenient overview of real estate law in Ontario. This resource covers topics that are essential for real estate lawyers and law clerks in a professional real estate law practice.

What's New in the 27th Edition
The 27th Edition of the Guide has been revised throughout, including:

  • Chapter 7, updating information dealing with land transfer tax
  • Chapter 10, discussing new content dealing with the Statute of Frauds and updating commentary dealing with remedies after default, including rescission, repudiation, specific performance and damages
  • Chapter 11, adding new content dealing with ancillary rights regarding easements and updating content in relation to the extent of certain easements
  • Chapter 24, discussing compliance orders under section 134 and the oppression remedy under section 135 of the Condominium Act, 1998

Raymond H. Mikkola, a partner at the law firm Pallett Valo LLP, has added new content to Chapter 3 (Charge/Mortgage of Land) that discusses assignment of mortgages. Mr. Mikkola has added new content to Chapter 11 (Easements) regarding the creation of easements by agreement. He has also updated Chapter 11 to include content regarding easements in gross and has expanded the content dealing with removal of easements.

New case annotations have been added to the commentary throughout the Guide, including to the sections that discuss remedies on default, easements, condominiums, power of sale, foreclosure, and notices.
